Pakistan Electricity Bill Calculator (Estimate) 2026

Get a rough estimate of your monthly domestic electricity bill from units consumed, before taxes and any fuel price adjustment.

⚠️ Base tariff only — excludes fuel adjustment. Do not treat as your real bill. NEPRA tariffs change with almost every Finance Act and monthly/quarterly fuel price adjustments, which alone can move a bill 20-40%. This tool estimates the base slab tariff only. Check your DISCO's current notified tariff or your last paid bill for the true current rate.
Check your last bill or meter reading difference for this figure.
DISCOs typically classify a connection as "protected" if usage stays under a threshold (commonly 200-300 units) for a set number of months.

In short

Pakistan domestic electricity bills use progressive per-unit slab rates set by NEPRA — cheaper 'protected' rates for low-usage households and higher rates above roughly 200–300 units — plus 17% GST, electricity duty, a TV licence fee and monthly fuel price adjustments.

Who this is for: Households in Pakistan estimating a monthly bill from units consumed, before fuel adjustments.

Not tax or legal advice. Slab rates shown are an illustrative structure and have NOT been verified against the current NEPRA-notified tariff or your DISCO's Fuel Price Adjustment. Do not rely on this figure as your actual bill — check your DISCO's current tariff notice or your last paid bill.

Why this will not match your real bill exactly

Pakistani domestic electricity bills are made up of the base per-unit slab tariff (what this tool estimates) plus several items this tool does not model:

  • Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA): a monthly surcharge or rebate reflecting the actual cost of generation fuel, which can swing meaningfully month to month.
  • Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA): a periodic true-up NEPRA applies on top of the base tariff.
  • Fixed/meter rent charges some connection types carry, and any arrears or previous balance.

Together, the FPA and QTA alone can move a real bill by 20-40% relative to the base tariff used here. The protected-category threshold (which slab set you fall under) also varies slightly by DISCO and can depend on your usage pattern over several preceding months, not just the current month.

Assumptions

  • Uses base-tariff slabs in the rules file (unverified); the Fuel Price Adjustment and Quarterly Tariff Adjustment are not included.
  • Adds 17% GST, 1.5% electricity duty and a PKR 35 TV licence fee.
  • The DISCO selection is for reference only and does not change the rates.

Worked example

350 units, non-protected category

Slab-by-slab: 100 units × PKR 16.87 + 100 units × PKR 19.72 + 100 units × PKR 24.54 + 50 units × PKR 30.79 ≈ PKR 7,653 energy charge
Electricity duty (1.5%): ≈ PKR 115
GST (17%): ≈ PKR 1,301
TV licence fee: PKR 35
Estimated total ≈ PKR 9,103 — before any Fuel Price Adjustment, which is not included.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my actual bill higher than this estimate?

Almost always the Fuel Price Adjustment and/or Quarterly Tariff Adjustment, neither of which is included here — these are announced separately and change often, sometimes monthly.

What's the difference between protected and non-protected?

DISCOs apply a lower 'protected' or 'lifeline' tariff to low-usage domestic connections, commonly those staying under 200-300 units for a sustained period — check your own bill's category label, since exact thresholds vary.

Does this apply to commercial or industrial connections?

No — this tool only models the domestic (residential) tariff category. Commercial and industrial tariffs use a different, generally higher rate structure.

Why did my bill jump when I used slightly more units?

Crossing a slab boundary (e.g. 200 units) can move the whole account into a higher category with higher rates on all units, not just the extra ones.

What is the Fuel Price Adjustment?

A monthly charge or credit per unit reflecting actual generation fuel costs, notified separately by NEPRA; it is not included in this estimate.

People also ask

How is an electricity bill calculated in Pakistan?

Units × slab tariff (rising with consumption for domestic consumers), plus fuel price adjustment, quarterly adjustment, electricity duty, TV fee, GST at 17% on the energy charge and income tax; the calculator applies the slabs you select.

What is the protected consumer category?

Domestic consumers using 200 units or less in each of the last six months, who get lower tariffs; one month above 200 units moves you to the unprotected slabs for six months.

Why is my bill higher than my units suggest?

Crossing a slab threshold applies the higher rate to all units in that slab, and fuel and quarterly adjustments can add several rupees per unit.

Is there income tax on electricity bills?

Yes — withholding under Section 235 on commercial and industrial bills, and on domestic bills above a threshold for non-filers.

How can I reduce my bill?

Stay under slab thresholds (200/300/400 units), shift heavy use off-peak if on a TOU meter, and consider net-metered solar — see the solar calculator.

What is FPA on the bill?

Fuel price adjustment — a monthly per-unit charge or credit reflecting the actual cost of generation two months earlier.
